For those of you interested in James Joyce–or for those who have always found it difficult to “get into” or understand his work–be sure to check out Ulysses “Seen“. The site is a graphical and serial adaptation of Joyce’s classic Ulysses by artist Robert Berry. Berry’s graphical representation makes it quite easy to grasp Joyce’s prose. Additionally, the artist provides numerous resources, such as a detailed reader’s guide, to help readers understand Joyce’s work and accelerate its appreciation.
It should also be noted that the iPad app for Ulysses “Seen” was the one that finally forced Apple’s hand to allow unpixelated artistic nudity in the app store.
(Full disclosure: I am friends with one of the principals of Throwaway Horse, the publishing partnership behind Ulysses “Seen”).
